The Opportunity:

Randstad are partnering with an established Civil Contractor seeking to appoint a Senior Project Engineer to deliver complex packages withing the Victorian energy infrastructure sector delivering civil utilities, large ground slabs and complex structural footings within live, high-pressure environments.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical and commercial success of ground stabilisation, concrete structures and civil packages. You will operate as a key link between project leadership and site execution.

• Lead the delivery of pilings, foundations, ground slabs, terminal station pedestals, and specialised containment assets.

• Manage civil work packages encompassing bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, and site benching within live electrical environments.

• Drive project commercial performance through budget management, procurement, and the administration of head contracts and subcontracts.

• Ensure all works adhere to the Quality Assurance and Technical Specifications required by major energy authorities and utility providers.

• Provide high-level technical direction and mentorship to Project Engineers and Site Supervisors to maintain site productivity and safety standards.

• Coordinate multi-disciplinary stakeholders and manage client relationships to resolve technical RFI’s and design interface issues promptly.

• Oversee the scheduling of plant, labor, and materials to ensure project milestones are met within the constraints of regional site logistics.

Project Logistics & Rosters

Due to the location of these energy assets across metro Melbourne and regional Victoria. On occasion, candidates must be prepared to work on a Drive-In, Drive-Out (DIDO) basis.

• The primary rosters are 5 days on, 2 days off, with flexibility required to move to a 10 days on, 4 days off (or similar) arrangement during peak construction phases.

• Full site travel, high-quality accommodation, and meal allowances are provided.

Requirements

We are seeking a technically proficient individual with a proactive approach to site management and a background in the Australian civil market.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a recognised equivalent qualification.

• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Project Engineer capacity, specifically delivering structural concrete or heavy civil packages.

• Previous exposure to the energy sector (Substations, Wind, Solar) or heavy industrial infrastructure is highly regarded.

• Comprehensive understanding of Victorian OHS regulations and environmental management requirements.

• Strong commercial acumen with experience in cost forecasting and contract administration.

• VESI training highly regarded

• Full Australian working rights and a valid Driver’s License are essential.
